I like the contrast and simplicity. I also like it that there seem to be so many memorials that are not only in cemeteries or of famous people. But I wonder why it's in English.

Hmmm... no one else things it's curious to memorialize a loved one with an object people place their butts on? :-D

Francisca, I hadn't thought about the butts, but We have a lot of memorial benches around here, and believe me, after a lot of walking people are thankful to have someone memorialized with a useful bench.
