These are quite beautiful benches...but I can see that they are not built for comfort. Don't want the folks going to sleep, right?
Is it a carpet shop?
Shalom J Bar. That was the funny part-- when I found the building covered with Persian carpets because it is anything BUT a carpet shop.
Heichal Shlomo is the former seat of the Chief Rabbinate. Pope Benedict paid a courtesy call on the two Chief Rabbis there last year.
The building now houses a Jewish museum, a synagogue with a very old Torah ark and bima brought from an synagogue in Italy, and offices of many Jewish organizations.
The hundreds of carpets were on display for the one week prior to a big auction. (I posted about it last week.)

I was going to say there are few indoor places I like better than a carpet store - but then I read the story :)
